ABOUT US
The Mighty Sound of Maryland Marching Band brings pride and tradition to the UMD campus. Our band members work hard to provide energy and enthusiasm at many Maryland events, and our music creates an exciting atmosphere for the Terrapin community. Practice makes perfect – we rehearse daily to improve our performance. Our band relies on a van to shuttle heavy instruments and equipment to and from the practice field.
OUR PROJECT
The Mighty Sound of Maryland needs a new band van! The current vehicle is used to transport equipment all over campus; the band can’t function without it. Our old van doesn’t have many miles left, so we need your help to purchase a larger, safer, and more reliable vehicle.
Purchased used through the university in 2006, "Baby Van" has seen better days. It is a smaller capacity than is necessary, and many of the parts are rusted and barely function. Our equipment staff has fiirst hand experience with this, and they see the need every time they drive it.
WHY CONTRIBUTE
Allow the band to practice more efficiently and showcase the Maryland spirit. We need a new van to haul equipment for practice that will allow for fewer campus trips, easier equipment access, and safer student driving. Any help is greatly appreciated and your support will keep Maryland the “Best Band in the Land!”
