The Nyumburu Cultural Center will host its 50th year Anniversary Hybrid Program on Saturday, October 23rd, at 6:30 p.m. This celebration features entertainment, student testimonials, speeches from the University of Maryland Alumni, and a host of surprises that you will thoroughly enjoy. During the week preceding the October 23rd hybrid program, there will be many activities and events that recognize the contributions of alumni and current students who have contributed to the 50 year legacy of the Nyumburu Cultural Center at the University of Maryland. Moreover, during the week leading up to UMD Homecoming, October 30th, 2021, there will be a myriad of academic, social, and community engagement activities for the UMD campus community in commemoration of 50 years of Nyumburu Programming.
We are planning this GRAND CELEBRATION for your benefit and enjoyment and your gift will continue the 50-year legacy and support the many cultural, artistic and educational programming that has benefitted generations of undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, staff, and community members who have graced the halls, rooms, and offices of our beloved Nyumburu Cultural Center. Also, there is a Nyumburu vision for student scholarships and an endowed scholarship. Please donate to the 50th Anniversary fund of the Nyumburu Cultural Center. A gift of $500 will be recognized on the Nyumburu Ambassadors & Friends Wall. This wall will symbolize the significant impact of Nyumburu Cultural Center throughout its 50-years on campus.
A gift at the minimum level of $1,000 will be recognized on the Donor Recognition Tree which will be located on the ‘P’ Level near the Multipurpose Room of the Nyumburu Building. The Donor Recognition Tree was created to leave a long lasting impression by alumni, donors, friends, and supporters.
Nyumburu Cultural Center’s Donor Recognition Tree and Nyumburu Ambassadors and Friends Wall is initiated by Anne Reese Carswell. Inscriptions such as names of family, employers, organizations, year of graduation, quotes, and etc. will be listed. Limitations of (82 characters including space and symbols for the leaf on the Recognition Tree). All inscriptions should be emailed to nyumburu@gmail.com.
