About Student ASLA
The University of Maryland student chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) aims to lead, educate, and participate in the stewardship, planning, and artful design of the built environment. Student ASLA is dedicated to promoting the study of Landscape Architecture and the importance of our field to our natural and cultural environment. We provide opportunities for students to meet and network with practicing professionals through office visits and portfolio review workshops. We also promote our field by planning and hosting important events, including LABash.
Our Project
LABash is an annual student-run Landscape Architecture conference hosted each year since 1970. This year’s LABash will take place at the Ohio State University from April 7th-9th, 2016. The three-day conference features lectures from professors and professionals, design workshops, charettes, and ample opportunities for networking. Specialized workshops allow students to expand upon their skillsets and prepare them to enter the professional force. Each year, Student ASLA members have walked away from the conference with internship offers and job contacts.
The 26 members of our group have personally committed almost $5,000 in registration costs, in addition to fundraising throughout previous semesters. Receiving only $1,000 from the Student Government Association, we fall over $5,000 short of the total cost needed to cover the trip. We turn to you to help us reach our goal. Donations will go toward ticket registration, transportation, and hotel accommodation.

Your donation plays an important role in changing students’ lives and kick-starting their careers! LABash is an excellent opportunity for students to meet, network, and develop relationships with colleagues and professionals within their field. Not only do students often receive job and internship offers, but leave with a renewed drive and spirit to succeed. Contributing to our project will set students up with an opportunity to succeed, and will encourage aspiring Landscape Architects to follow their dreams.
Gifts in support of the University of Maryland are accepted and managed by the University of Maryland College Park Foundation, Inc., an affiliated 501(c)(3) organization authorized by the Board of Regents. Contributions to the University of Maryland are tax deductible as allowed by law. Please see your tax advisor for details.
This donation covers 10% of the cost of one member's registration fee. Donors of this level will have their names listed on the Maryland Student ASLA's website.
This donation covers 50% of the cost of a member's accommodation. Donors of this level will have their names listed on the Maryland Student ASLA's website.
This donation will cover 20% of the entire cost of transportation for the trip. Donors of this level will have their names mentioned in our Thank You Video.
This donation covers 20% of our entire goal! Donors of this level will receive a personalized Thank You video from the group.
This donation covers 75% of the cost of one member's entire trip, including registration, transportation, and accommodation . Donors of this level will receive a personalized Thank You video and gift from the group.
