UMD Women's Rugby
Hi Friends, Family, and Fellow Rugby Enthusiasts!
We’d like to reflect on the goals we set this time last year and acknowledge the hard work our team has put in to meet them!
What We Have Achieved:
- Expanding our Horizons - Next month our club is headed to Portugal. We will have the opportunity to watch the Rugby Europe Men’s Championship match, play against local rugby clubs, and of course explore the beautiful country. This is thanks to the team's hard work fundraising and of course all of our donors!
- Growing the Game - Since last giving day we took on 24 new players and counting! Our wonderful coaching staff including our dedicated rookie coaches (and UMD Rugby Alumni) John and Pam made this possible. We also hosted 16 teams at the MARC Automatic Qualifiers including the finals.
- Building a Strong Rugby Community - We will be attending an Old Glory DC Men’s Rugby match in the spring for their student night! By building ties with other rugby clubs we are strengthening the ever growing rugby community.
Looking Forward:
- Elevating Our Competition Level - The team is working hard to meet our goal of becoming a Division 1 club by Fall 2028. Through recruiting rookies and setting ambitious goals each season our team is reaching new heights!
- Out of Region Rugby - We are trying to play in out of region tournaments at least once a year.
- A Sport for All - Rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the US and we want to grow with it. We strive everyday to show that rugby is a sport for all no matter physique, skill, gender, or age.
Thank you all for your continued support for the UMD Women’s Rugby Club. Without all of you, many of these goals would have been out of reach. Thanks again and we hope to see you coming out to support our Maryland Terrapins! GO TERPS!
