Help UMD MANRRS Attend the 38th Annual MANRRS National Conference

UMD MANRRS (University of Maryland Chapter, Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences) is a chapter of the National MANRRS Organization. We welcome membership of undergraduate and graduate students from all majors and backgrounds who are interested in agricultural and related science careers.

The UMD MANRRS Chapter aims to use the LauchUMD funds we raise to support registration fees, air travel, and other expenses for the 38th Annual MANRRS National Conference in Chicago, Illinois, March 20th-24th, 2024. The National MANRRS Conference aims to help participants improve their professional skills, learn about natural resource fields, and connect with students and professionals representing government, industry, academia, and nonprofit organizations. At past conferences, our members interviewed and were offered jobs and internships from employers such as the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and Land O’Lakes. In the past two years, we have had six competition winners in the Oral Research Presentation, Research Discussion, Public Speaking, and Business Pitch categories. Every year UMD MANRRS participates in the QuizBowl trivia competition and can achieve placement in the semifinal round out of 16 competing MANRRS Chapters across the country.

Our attendance at the National Conference will benefit the UMD community by offering the chance to exemplify the university’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. In addition, we hone public speaking skills through the presentation of scholarly research advised by UMD faculty and staff. These competitions allow us to showcase the results of our work and Maryland research to many academic, industry, and agency attendees.

Gifts in support of the University of Maryland are accepted and managed by the University of Maryland College Park Foundation, Inc., an affiliated 501(c)(3) organization authorized by the Board of Regents.  Contributions to the University of Maryland are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
