TerpsEXCEED is an inclusive post-secondary education program that provides students with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in a college experience for two years, culminating in a certificate.
TerpsEXCEED students are UMD students, like typical incoming freshman – with student IDs and email accounts, access to UMD facilities, activities, and student organizations, and the choice to live on campus in dorms. TerpsEXCEED staff and a network of trained student Peer Mentors provide individual supports to students throughout the program.
The current cohort includes four first-year students and two second-year students. With the support of generous donors and advocates, we hope to expand the program in the coming years.
