Marching Band Student Scholarship Fundraiser

The Mighty Sound of Maryland (MSOM) is thrilled to announce its first endowed fund to support scholarships for marching band students of all majors! Please help us grow this scholarship fund with your generous donation today. Every gift made in Fall 2022 will help increase the size of the first student scholarship awards made in Fall 2023.

Dotty Reitwiesner ‘78 generously established the Marching Band Student Support Endowment with a gift of just over $50,000. Beginning in Fall 2023, this endowment will produce annual scholarship awards that support educational expenses or expenses that may prohibit ongoing participation in the marching band. This endowment is the first of its kind in that it is open to MSOM students of all majors at the University of Maryland.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 for the endowment between Early Week (August 22) and Homecoming (October 22). While Dotty helped launch this effort, it is her hope that MSOM community members — alumni, parents/family, fans, and students — will see this as a shared endowment. All are encouraged to give a gift that will strengthen the Marching Band Student Support Endowment, so that generations of MSOM students of all majors will benefit from scholarship support year after year.
