About Us
The Maryland Equestrian Club (MEC) is a student organization that strives to bring together fellow equestrians at UMD. We are responsible for the care for our beloved campus horses, and their wellbeing is of utmost priority. MEC members learn proper horsemanship, farm management, engage in a variety of service events, and have the opportunity to ride at a range of skill levels. We are passionate about this club, and want the best for our horses and members so that we can thrive alongside each other.
Our Goal
Behind the scenes, there are a number of working parts and essential supplies required to keep this club functioning smoothly. After years of training and use, we are in dire need of funds to replace deteriorating tack, equipment, and assorted barn necessities. This would make activities safer and more enjoyable for both the horses and club members, which is crucial to providing a one of a kind experience here with MEC.
Community Impact
By funding our cause, you would be supporting the education and safety of our riding program here at MEC. This would encourage students to engage more with the farm here at UMD, provide safe animal experiences for those who need it to apply to veterinary schools, increase the overall comfort of our horses, and much more! Your donation would be valued greatly by the equestrian community here at Maryland, since every bit would contribute to creating an amazing learning environment for our students and horses.
