Our Crowdfunding Groups
The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) at UMD is an organization that promotes the Hispanic community of College Park in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We are part of a national organization and this allows us to grow and maintain connections to companies and recruiters who promise to support our chapter and provide our members with career or professional opportunities. Every year, we also send several of our members to the SHPE National Convention in the Fall, where they are able to attend educational workshops, career fairs, and expos.
SHPE UMD at National Convention 2019Our mission is to enable our college students to find careers in STEM, provide professional development for our members, expand our members networks while providing a sense of inclusion, improve our neighborhoods through community service, promote STEM awareness among the youth in the community, and encourage middle and high school students to pursue degrees in STEM.
Giving Back to the Community!
The funds that we raise will be used to help improve the SHPE Lounge, located in EGR0142 Glenn Martin Hall, which has remained untouched over the years. We hope to replace aging furniture while also improving on the appearance of the lounge for our community. We also want to continue to make this be an inclusive and safe space for all new and existing members. By updating the look of our lounge we may continue to provide a space where members can continue to use for studying or for weekly executive board meetings. Any leftover funds will be used for events that we host on campus being social or corporate events where food and materials are needed.

In this level, hope to use the funds to purchase supplies like paper and pencils to provide in the SHPE Lounge. We are also able to buy hooks for decoration purposes in the room.
In this level we hope to use the funds to be able to purchase items like a new microwave or plastic storage drawers.
In this level we are hoping to use the generous funds to replace the aging furniture in our Lounge. We hope to replace our fridge, tables, microwave or sofa.
