ERHS' New Murals are Finally Done!

September 12, 2021

Back in March we raised ~$4,000 to beautify Eleanor Roosevelt High School to support mental health initiatives. Now in September, we completed 2 beautiful new murals and we gave 5+ temporary classrooms a new coat of paint, with the snazzy class colors and Roosevelt blue. Check out the photos attached or stop by to Eleanor Roosevelt to see them in person.

Thank you to all the students who volunteered their valuable weekends and to the donors who made this all possible. We could not have done this without you!

Because we exceeded our fundraising goals, Mr. Patrick Gleason, English teacher, also plans to plant more trees around ERHS' campus to continue to support the initiatives - more info to come.

Check out Flower STEM (flowerstem.org / flowerstem@umd.edu / Instagram: @flowerstemumd) for more initiatives and projects to support creativity within the STEM fields at the University of Maryland.

24 Hours Later... We Did It!

March 04, 2021

Can you believe it? Because we can't!

In just 24 hours we managed to raise over $3000, $3206 to be exact! We want to give a huge thanks to all the Terps, Raiders, and community members who decided to contribute to our cause. We really couldn't have done it without you!

As a student organization that's under a year old, it means so much to us that 143 people believed enough in us to want to donate. In the few short months we've been around, we've been able to host multiple guest speaker events\workshops, create a mentorship program for first-year college students, and now thanks to you, allow our members to work on creative projects that have a real impact on our community.

Did you know that 3 of the founding members of Flower STEM are ERHS alumni and all 4 are from Prince George's County? And that many of our organizers are from ERHS too? Well they are! Roosevelt taught us that it was possible to be both analytical and creative, hard-working and easy-going, and we wanted to bring that spirit to the University of Maryland.

Thank you again, we really appreciate it! The fundraiser is still ongoing until the end of the month, but we've already hit our goal! We'll keep you updated on how the project goes, especially our mural designs and plan of implementation.

As you go about your day, remember to let your creativity blossom.

And remember Roosevelt, stay classy.
