University of Maryland Alumni Association
The University of Maryland Alumni Association formed as a separate 501(c)(3) organization in 1989. Back then, the association occupied just one room at the Rossborough Inn. Today, we operate from the state-of-the-art Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center, serving more than 377,000+ alumni in Maryland and around the world—we've come a long way in 30 years!
Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center
Funded by private contributions, the effort to create the Riggs Alumni Center was led by the late Samuel Riggs IV ’50. A descendant of one of Maryland's most venerable families, Riggs possessed the traits of a philanthropist: a deep respect for history and tradition and an ability to identify promise. His leadership gift toward a new alumni center at the University of Maryland signaled his belief that it would create new opportunities for the university and it’s now more than 377,000 graduates.
Through philanthropic support we are able to host more than 47,000 guests at 936 events in our beautiful home, the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center. The Riggs Alumni Center is the home for alumni and Alumni Association members when they come to campus. We hope you will consider making a donation and allowing us to continue to have a state-of-the-art venue that is at the top of every event planners list.
The Alumni Association is the heart of the university, inspiring lifelong connections with a global network of Maryland alumni. The Riggs Alumni Center is the central hub for alumni when they come to campus.
Gifts in support of the University of Maryland are accepted and managed by the University of Maryland College Park Foundation, Inc., an affiliated 501(c)(3) organization authorized by the Board of Regents. Contributions to the University of Maryland are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Please see your tax advisor for details.
