Change the Way Children Play at the CYC
On behalf of the Center for Young Children, we want to thank everyone who participated in the Launch campaign that ended on May 6, 2015. It is because of supporters like you we were able to raise $11,343! With these funds we are going to be able to complete phase one of the project which includes a new slide, a vegetable garden, a performing arts stage, and the CYC’s very own Golden Gate Bridge.
You have made an impact at the CYC that will last forever. Thank you again for all of your support.
WHO WE ARE
The Center for Young Children (CYC) is a laboratory school affiliated with the College of Education. Recognized by the National Association of Education of Young Children for exemplary programs.
The CYC is dedicated to:
- Providing an early childhood program committed to fostering the personal and social development of each child.
- Stimulating the cognitive, physical, emotional and social development of each child.
- Supporting child development research
COME ALIVE OUTSIDE
Students from the Architecture, Education, and Plant Science and Landscape Architecture Departments are participating in this national campaign whose mission is to stimulate engagement with the outdoor environment.
LANDSCAPE ACTIVITY CENTERS
These centers will be designed and constructed by students under the mentorship of project managers from landscape contracting companies. They are intended to provide both educational and physical development for the pre-school and kindergarten students. This will be achieved by incorporating the following into the CYC’s outdoor environment:
- Rain Garden
- Weather Station
- Organic Vegetable Garden
- Water Harvesting System
- Biodiversity Landscape
- Hillside Slide
- Suspension Bridge
- Swing Center
YOUR DONATION WILL:
- Forever change the way kids play at the Center for Young Children!
- Stimulate an appreciation for the outdoor environment
- Expand the educational venues for CYC programs
- Provide a learning experience for UMD students
