IFTSA Central Atlantic Regional College Bowl

Hi Alumni, Industry Partners, and Fellow Food Scientists!

On behalf of our Food Science Club, we are excited to share that the University of Maryland will be hosting this year’s IFTSA Central Atlantic Regional College Bowl. This marks the first time in nearly a decade that we are hosting the event, making it a particularly meaningful milestone for our organization. We are happy to announce that we will be hosting the University of Delaware, Pennsylvania State University, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and North Carolina State University.

What is the IFTSA College Bowl?

The IFTSA College Bowl is an annual, academic competition where food science students from different universities compete by answering trivia questions covering food science topics such as food chemistry, processing, safety, sensory science, and industry trends. The event not only highlights students’ technical knowledge but also fosters collaboration, professionalism, and passion for the food industry.

What is the Food Science Club?

The Food Science Club is a student-run organization that brings together students with an interest in food science. We host guest speakers, organize industry visits, participate in campus activities, and plan social events. All majors are welcome, not just food science students! Our club is a great way to meet like-minded peers, have fun, and gain leadership experience by serving as an officer. We are open to anyone with an interest in food science and creating a strong, supportive community. We are also the University of Maryland Chapter of the Institute of Food Technologists Student Association (IFTSA). We represent UMD students within the Maryland Chapter of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) and the broader professional community. We strive to explore and innovate within the food industry to build community and member opportunities!

Your donations would directly support the success of this regional event by helping us fund materials and event execution. The Food Science club will humbly accept your donation, and in return, you will be supporting motivated students who are actively preparing to enter the workforce.

We would be extremely grateful for any level of support you are able to provide. Your contribution will play a key role in making this event a success while helping to inspire and support students pursuing careers in food science.
